You don't have to be an asshole to make great art, but it helps.
How on earth do you make the r sound like that 😭😭😭
Watching this at 1.5x 😁
Sorry, two of my computer letter keys often do not work. Joann Wolfan von oete ( 1749 - 1832 ) erman writer. Scientific work on botany, zooloy, and optics. WOW!!
I need a better day schedule to make time for reading brah
this essay of walter benjamin is one of my favourites! (along with unpacking my library). i was born close to where walter benjamin died. I feel like around here people feel an affinity to him. his books are sold a lot and have been translated for a long time. i wonder if it's because we feel we should have saved him and we could not do it. we have a beautiful memorial in the town where he died, with a beautiful, beautiful view of the mediterranean. it's probably not enough, but in the point we are now, now that we are already late, it's all we have and all we can give, our beautiful blue sea.
I can't focus while reading on a phone or pc , it's so much better to read on a good old book
круто
I consider this part of life. When interviewing for a place at Oxford Univercity many moons ago, they didn't ask about my academic results, they wanted to know about my outside interests, my take oon current affairs, what I could bring to the college. Years later after a many and varied career, I found my metier. You know what, all those intersts, hobbies and jobs have played a part in my being a success at my chosen profession. I would advise that if you try out various interests, you'll soon know if you have an aptitude for it or not and whatever happens you'll have learned something.
One of the MUST read is philosophers and love by Marie lemmonier…I have just closed it and I am a total mess….. it was a horrific journey honestly shedding light on the darkest places in the hearts of great philosophers…asking the huge questions to finally let you experience the answers…I never imagined i could observe men like Socrates and Kant that deeply….the insanity was naked and unapologetically intense in their stories in a way you would never imagine..some let love burn them and some burned the hell out of that concept as whole…the ones that ran towards agony unprotected and the ones who chose the shelter of a love that buried them after all both died just choosing different levels of pain…the ones in between are on a whole other level of hell It’s a treasure on my shelves honestly
@Walden, what then do you advise? Give up social media for good or become more careful not to trade our ability to think critically? If the latter is anywhere close to your answer, then how do you recommend one goes about it?
First time checking this channel out, enjoyed it and subscribed right away.
Hey! guys I would like to ask about something if possible, so here's my situation, I come from a country where English isn't commonly used in a daily basis, but I really adore English literature. I have a big problem with spelling words correctly, if you guys could help me with something I would be immensely grateful. Have a good day !
Just become a Marxist at this point
Im having this problem of frustration and impatience. Im doing my PHD and stressed on the books 'I want to have read'. Thank you for this video, Im learning to accept my pace. Slow is advantangeous!
i'm currently writing my debut philosophical/psychological novel and this has been extremely helpful! thank you so much and more power to your channel <3
Holy shit! I found the real life Samwell Tarly. 🤎
thanks :)
What happened when those jittery young guys returned from the war and found their efforts undone by women and old men?
The thing is, what's the point? So you've put in all this effort to read this gianormous puzzle piece. What has it done for you? Did you learn a new life skill? Don't think so. Did you get new insights into reality? The world situation, the future of humanity, deep insights into human nature? My understanding of 'Gravities Rainbow' and books of this ilk is that they are just "shaggy dog stories." They are just literary puzzles to figure out, but they don't have any bearing on actual reality or the world situation.I guess you might get a sense of accomplishment having read it; even more having "understood it." Maybe it sharpened your mind to unravel other big puzzles: I guess that's something. In the end you didn't spend too much money like going to strip clubs, and there are worse things to do, like being addicted to heroin or crack, so to each his own. Everybody has the right to waste their time the way they see fit.
..
Boa tarde
i don't care about my grades but my parents does.
The humanities came at a time in your life where it medhed with your mechanical angst and that had a combinational effect that made you love the subject even more. That is a pattern I've noticed. Many of the student nurrses that I've noticed do well tend to have some sort of trauma or event in life that whren the knowledge of caring came along fused with their own life circumstances which catapulted them into becoming very passionate and own what they did. Like you, after feeling trapped in a medical degree i wasn't too sold on initially, the mechanical angst set it and i yearned for revolutionary literature for the first time in my life. Now i have a huge passion for history, even the boring parts of it. (Hmmm maybe I'm the reson these boring parts continue yo exist because of passionate people's confined justification of them?). Either way, many of the revolutionary scientists, those that changed their fields, did so because they had a chip on their shoulder in real life to outcompete the best. Look at Newton and all his rivalries. He hid and produce to astronomical levels. Cheers
I like the one-continuous take. ❤
Read it like novel , make a story of it so that a cohesion is felt not just random facts or quotes ! Try not to memorise little details coz you’ll miss something big !
Abraham Hicks says just find out what it is they (examinars) are wanting you to know and the grade is just the feed back on what you have or haven't picked up so just go over what facts abilities they think are worth telling you about.
I’m not sure how well that experiment would work for me because the second I am not studying, on social media, or reading (or out with friends, which is rare), I am daydreaming. I daydream a lot, especially if I have music, but it happens regardless. My daydreams often play out like fantasy novels, and I theorize that this is because during the worst/ most “traumatic” part of my life, I was a huge fan of fantasy novels (which I read quite rarely now). Does anyone else do this?
Ok nerd
What does #6 mean in some more detail?
I really wish they where cheaper, it’s like $1k in Australia for one with a pen etc
How ironic it is to watch a video about Byung Chul Han's philosophy and be fed an advertisement of Skilshare.
I‘ve lived my whole life with technology and the internet, i cant imagine living without it even though i know how bad it is for me and my mentality. Trying to cut it all out slowly but surely and finally start living. It’s gonna be tough tho especially cause of my boring job, where i can‘t even make it through one day without watching youtube on the side or something, because there’s nothing engaging to do, just doing mundane bs, being surrounded by uninteresting people and waiting for my shift to end.
Proust is not a book, Robin :(

Survive a degree?? That makes no sense.
You look exactly like a nerd I had imagined.
In what world is an honours thesis 1500 words? I'm in undergrad and my honours thesis is 5000 words😭😭😭😭😭
Even though I'm not attending university, as of yet, I'm planning on this event to be brought to fruition soon enough, I feel as if I must thank you for what may be, unwittingly not known, the fact that there are other humans in this realm of reality who also enjoy literature, writing as intensely & as much as I do, causes me to feel far less strange as well "out of sink", than with the rest of the world. So having a kindred spirit, allows me to be inspired with a surge of energy to continue my pursuits without abandon. Wholeheartedly with just a touch of the required recklessness needed, to out shine any quotidian levels of dedication far easier than thought possible. With this in mind I thank you.
just found this account and your videos are so well articulated. you can tell this guy knows what he’s talking about! SUBSCRIBED💪🏽💪🏽
I watched the whole clip just for this advice:"don't look up every word at the dictionary" and "practice the language in it's real world context". 9 minutes are way to long for these 2 points, and the second one is stupid, I have no idea what it would mean to pratice a language in it's real world context, does it meam you read only news? Or you only talked to people? Should I watch another 9 minutes clip for the answer?
28 years, I started to read. My younger life, was an auto mechanic which I would read car manuals Today, I read three books a month. Yes, taking your time of reading my books at Portos bakery in downey California. I live in Downey California which no one likes to read. They don’t know how much they are missing. I worked in sheperville kentucy, Jeffersonvill Indiana , for 14 years. I returned home.. I am free thanks.. Frank Martinez Downey California
Ughhhh. Now I have to fight kids in Goodwill and favorite thrift shops as a seamstress!! "Get off my lawn" and go play with a video games you whippersnappers!!! (😂) [I am happy kids are reading again ...some as a trend only, I'll take it]
Thank you for the video! I'm interested in history, especially of my country, to know what led to such consequences we have now, but I have problems with both remembering and understanding information I consume as I forget it quickly and feel miserable and inferior in the moments when I can't recall facts I tried hard to memorize. Your speech made me feel inspired and much less desperate, thanks a lot again!
